ok its been a really long time but i need to reinstall windows on my first sata hd and leave the second sata hd alone and i dont want to run any raid.
when i boot to the windows cd to reinstall it doesnt see the sata hds and it wants me to install a disk for the drivers for the sata hd but i only have a cd. i know im having a massive brain fart right now so can anyone please point me in the right direction.

Windows XP is such an old system that it doesn't know what in the world is a SATA-drive. You need a disc with sata drivers, but that's all I can tell.

You'll need to either have drivers on a floppy disk, or create your own "slipstream" Win XP install DVD that includes the drivers. Check out nlite - it worked well for me.
