Well, I just picked up another 120gb same as my previous one so i decided to RAID-0 them. Well first, i have a IT7-MAX (no legacy) mobo / intel p4 2.4ghz b, 512 corsair xms 3500. Intelimouse 3.0a explorer. and a microsoft keyboard pro +. (all usb)

Well when I install windows I have to hit F6 to install the Highpoint masstorage chipset for the raid. well when it says "installing devices" in windows setup it asked me to put in the disk w/ the HIghpoint drivers. Well i have the disk. the only problem is I can't hit enter!! I have a mouse curser but while installing devices the mouse curser and keyboard go away.

I have no idea how to get it so i can just go to browse and select a: drive. Anyone know of a way ? I've even tried different mice (all usb). No luck. Is it a problem with the USB? I've also gone into the BIOS and changed the USB support from BIOS to OS just to see what it'd do, but that did not help.

Thanks guys.

Oh btw, i'm installing windows xp pro

This is step by step what happens.

1.) Setup RAID
2.) windows setup F6
3.) Press S....put in floppy with highpint
4.) Windows continues to set up.
5.) I reboot and windows starts showing me "why its cool" and tells me when it'll be done. Then a bar at the bottom says "installing devices" ....the bar progressses and then the USB's all turn off at the same time and then the dialogue prompt comes up asking for the Highpint disk again. But i can't select it becuase no USB>

The simplest solution I could think of is find a PS/2 keyboard, and I'm pretty sure that during that part of the windows setup you can't use a mouse at all. It is the part after that when its done loading all the files on your PC and reboots that you can use a mouse.

OH yeah, it works, it works up until it asks for that highpoint driver disk. then all usb is gone. I can enter BIOS with it, and just two days ago i was using it just fine in windows. It's just in windows setup when it's installing the Highpoint drivers it won't work. :(

I just looked at that mobo on Abit's site, I could have sworn there were P/S 2 ports for a mouse and keyboard. I really find it confounding that you don't have it on that board.

You were probably looking at ABIT IT7 MAX 2 or 3. however the first MAX has no legacy at all. No com ports, no Parrellel, no PS2, No serial. Only usb :p

Dude invest in a motherboard with a PS2 port...jeepers that personally would drive me nuts! If your looking to OC your system stick with Abit as from the reviews they appear to be the best for that. However, if your going to do a very small amount of OCing get an Asus board, I got the P4P800 Deluxe and its great (stable, some nice features, AND a PS2 port ;))...or the P4C800-E Deluxe.

BTW if you figure this problem out, without having to install a new motherboard with PS2 ports...let me know I'm interested to see what you do.
