Installing Windows Updates

Hi, I'm setting up a new computer, getting ready to install VIsta. Now where I am, I have no access to broadband and the computer only has an ethernet port. I'm on 56k now on another computer. I was wondering if it is possible for me to download the updates, if any, over on this machine and transfer them and install on my new build?

Thanks!

Yep, you can hit www.microsoft.com/downloads The downside is you'll need to go in and figure out what you want (but you should be able to get all the same bits you'd wind up getting from Windows update).

Under product families select 'Windows' and from that screen 'Vista'. That should give you a manageable list.

Thanks!

And how does Microsoft Product Activation work if I have no internet connection on that computer. I mean I have to activate Vista right?

Why don't you stick a $10 Agere modem in the new computer. I only have dialup at
home. After Vista install I had 46 megs of updates. I did it gradually over a week.
No problems and it seemed faster than expected.....
