Question Installing Windows over Linux - Help

Hey guys. I'm trying to install Windows on my computer and am running into issues.

- orginally the computer had Windows 10 on the hard drive
- installed Linux Ubuntu over it using a USB stick
- want Windows 10 back on the computer. Put it into a bootable USB
- stuck at the windows 10 logo
- Tried installing Windows 7 instead by putting it into a bootable USB
- oddly still stuck at the Windows 10 logo

Any ideas how to get Windows back on ?

just as a test, using the same USB stick, i put Linux Lite on it and it installed successfully on the computer (although it took a few minutes to respond after I chose 'Install Linux Lite' from the menu)

just an update: finally got windows back on the comp. burned it do dvd and booted from there. odd that i couldn't install windows via usb. im thinking it has something to do with my very old mobo - gigabyte g31m es2c.
