Installing windows on External Drive for Laptop

I have a laptop whose hard drive went nuts so i bought another one. This laptop did not have a functioning cd drive so right now i'm trying to figure out what i can do. i have a 2.5" enclosure and a new 2.5" hdd i bought. i'd like to install windows on it from my desktop somehow using the external enclosure. Is that possible? Can someone please point me in the right direction.

Windows XP RIS

Remote Installation Services - if the laptop can boot off the network card (and even if it can't, really) you can load Windows on it over your LAN. 🙂

I know you could install Windows 98 rather easily with that setup (just make the drive DOS bootable, and then copy the installation CABs over to it) but I don't think XP plays nice like that. That said, I've never tried it.

Anyone else? 😛
