Hey finaly got the K8V rig and have it put together however I'm having issues with getting windows installed on this beast and I'm hopping someone can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Is it possible to install windows directly on to the SATA drive (no IDE drives) if so, what do I need to do? Also since there are 4 SATA ports on the board (and the manual has ah heck all for details on which is which) which port will I need to be plugged in to if it is possible?

Thanks

ok I jumped the gun and posted before I searched the net on how to install an SATA drive on an Asus K8V (go to viaarena and download the drivers then put'em on a floppy).

On most new motherboards, yes. Jut boot to the windows Cd and see if WinXp see's the drive. If it does, format and your on your way. If no, do it again and hit F6 to load the SATA drivers and then you should be good to go.

What about SATA in a RAID 0 array? I'm thinking about it. I'm assuming that since the RAID is configured and controlled at the BIOS level, that Windows 2000 or XP will see it as a regular drive.

Any horror stories about using RAID 0 as a boot drive?????
