You shouldn't need a driver for that.
What is the problem/symptoms you are trying to cure?

it will use a different method to write to cd/dvd to reading cd/dvd.
How do you know it isn't broken? If it reads and that is all you want it for, then fine.
If it doesn't write, then it would be worth trying it out in a different system, or, better still trying a known working one out in your system.

good luck either way

Run the installer program in Windows 95 mode. This may fool it into thinking you are running Win95.

#1 Drivers are NOT required for a CD or DVD Rom or Burner.

#2 You CANNOT install Win95 drivers on a WinXP system

#3 Just because you can READ with a CD or DVD drive does not mean you can WRITE with it. 2 different lasers. The burner function always fails before the reader because the burner laser get MUCH hotter.

#4 WHAT installer says it requires Win95? Anything that says it requires Win95 if too old to be installing on a WinXP system.

#5 If you want some help you should describe in DETAIL what it's doing and stop yelling "95 on XP please!" because you sound moronic. What EXACTLY happens when you try to burn something? Do you get an error? If so what is the error? Does the burning app actually detect a burner (in Nero for instance, bring down the Recorder menu and then click on Choose Recorder - is it listed in there?). Is the drive listed as a burner in Device Manager?

YES, theres a driver in every app, the Drive Driver said it needs Win95, Misc. Errors, tryed many disks,

And what do you mean DRIVERS are not required? The built in ones are being used, and they are CLEARLY incompatible (sorry microsoft), thats that... NERO Info Says that it can burn-a-plenty!

it seems many folks are having problems with this drive, google it.. they are not having driver problems, just problems in general. try different media and slow burn speeds.

if xp wont burn with it, no driver is going to help you, its an open standard. ive never heard of a burner that xp didnt support.

First things frist, win95 uses VXD drivers. Simply won't work in XP. XP should have drivers for the device. If it won't install automatically, then you need a driver. If it installs but you can't use any feature of it, you'll probally have to update the firmware.

As for a burning driver, every burning program uses different ones, which act more as an interface between the software and burner. The IMAPI service is built-in to XP (can be disabled/enabled in services.msc). Nero uses it's own I believe. Some programs require updates to work with certain burners. Check the burner's website for a compatability list.

Have you checked if the manufacturer offers Macintosh drivers for that drive? You can try and see if those load into XP.

If Flying Penguin's answers can't help you, you must be asking the question wrong.

If you include more data (motherboard, burner type and model, program that's getting errors, what kind of errors) he's probably the only one left on AT that will help you after dismissing his excellent and insightful advice... I know I won't.

OK,
We'll try once more.

Drivers written for win95 will work only on win95, and if you are lucky, win98 and occassionally MinME.
They WILL NOT work on 2K or XP.

If you are trying to figure out a way of getting a non working piece of hardware to work, then all the best of luck to you.

You could try an external cdrom that plugs into the USB port (if your lappie has one?), or, I am sure there were some old external serial cdroms. Slow, but effective, but you won't be able to boot from them, cos the BIOS wouldn't handle that.
