For some odd reason I cant boot from win2k CD, it automatically boots in XP just like it normally does and yes I have boot from CD in my bios selected. Once Im in XP I select the win2k CD and a message pops up saying something like, this is a older version of windows and all options will be disabled. So I can get to the win2k start up menu but xp has disabled all my options. Any help would be appreciated. All I wanna do is get rid of XP and install 2k

on the 2k cd is a "bootdisk" directory

run the program in there, (you'll need 4 floppies)

then boot off 4 floppies and install 2k

if you had win2k or another nt os, and upgraded to winxp from one of those, then you're probably out of luck

You will have to at least boot to Win2k installation, not XP. If you open the 2K install disk while in XP it automatically disables the installation because XP is a newer version. If you boot to 2K install you should be able to delete the XP partition. I think the only time this is not possible is when trying to reinstall XP using the upgrade mode. If you use SCSI drives you can simply use the format command from the SCSI controller to wipe the partition.

If you want to do a clean install and its on one partition, use a dos-boot disk and format c:. Then boot from the w2k cd-rom and run the install. Just don't forget to convert c: to NTFS during the install.
