Okay. this is the scenario - I recently inherited a compaq PC that was intended for "thin" use. There is no CD rom (and there is some crazy proprietery connector so no way to connect a CDROM to the IDE) and there is no floppy. The system currently has win98 on it. My mission is to get win2k on this, beyond that everything is fine. So the question is, how the hell can i get Win2k on this box?(without purchasing an external USB CDROM) I read something somewhere about copying the win2k install to a partition of the HD, and installing from there (running setup.exe from one of the partitions) Has anyone tried this? Does it sound like it'd work?
Also, I was thinking about just taking the IDE HD out and popping a CDROM and HD in...problem is, there is NO WAY to get further into this case than I already have. It's freakin solid metal with security screws all over the place....As I said, this PC was intended for "Thin client" use, so They didn't give an F about upgradability. Anyway, any logical ideas would be appreciated! Thanks in advance...
