friends and collegueas from anandtech... i was building a computer with a SATA drive when i realize that this is the first time i do so. When I install windows xp, it tells me that there is no hard drive in my system, but it is! the BIOS recognize the drive, but windows do not, and to be honest, i don't have any idea of to make it to recognize the drive.
I know this question will be all for lots of you, but i haven't had this problem before, anyway, thankyou for your help

you need to supply a driver for your SATA controller during installation, did your motherboard come with
floppy disk?

You'll have to hit F3 to install a 3rd party driver when XP asks you. Then you put in your CD/floppy to install the driver for your hard drive.

Actually, the correct button for loading drivers is F6.

And it seems to me that the drivers at the bottom of this page wouldwork. However, you will probably have to find the correct set for your OS in the archive and put them on a floppy.

i've tryed with F6... unsuccessful i'm afraid 🙁 ...
after loading the files it appears a screen asking me fo r afloppy drive, which the motherboard doesn't provide... just in case... i've take a start up disk and coppied the files from the "Sata drivers WinXP" to a floppy disk from DOS, but no way... windows told me that a file called "txtsetup.oem" wasn't found... so... what the hell i am supposed to do now? i can't believe that installing a sata drive was going to be this diffucult... indeed i'll do it... sooner or later, but i'll continue to apreciatte your colobaration... perhaps onw of you know the key...

just in case, the hardware i'm talking about is:
ASUS K8V-X motherboard, for A64
an A64 2800+
the hard drive is a Hitachi S-ATA 80GB with 8MB Buffer
and just in case, the ram is a 512mb PC3200 supertalent module

thank you
