Hi guys,
I have a laptop with a bad host HDD. In turn, I am trying to keep it from being a dummy notebook and install it's Vista Home Premium license on an external HDD.
I have gone through the process of creating a bootable flash drive in order to perform the install (the recover image was within the HDD). When I get to the installation, I am receiving this error message from the installer:
<Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Setup does not support configuration of or installation to disks connected through a USB or IEEE 1394 port>
Is there a way for me to still do perform the installation? The bios will allow booting form an external HDD, however, the windows install is giving me the roadblock. My only idea is to try to see if installing the external HDD driver, however, I don't believe this is the solution.
Any ideas and/or help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
Hardware Info:
HP Pavilllion DV6700
