Installing Ti200, W98 boot logo

Replacing a GeForce 2 with a new Ti200 on a W98se/XP dual boot system. XP boots without any problems. When I boot W98se, the boot logo appears and freezes. But the OS still boots, at least I think, because I here my startup wave file play. Can't get in thru- safe mode either. Any ideas appreciated. Thx.
PIII700, 256ram, W98se/XP, Abit BF6 mobo, 15gb/40gb HD, SBLive XGamer, USR modem, Netgear NIC.
