Installing the Promise Ultra ATA 100 controller on the A7V133

Hey guys... I have a little problem. I was wondering if my problem has happened on anybody else's computer.

I am trying to install Win2k on my box and I keep getting an error...

The machine boots up and I was able to create a stripe-set and I partitioned it and formatted it. However, when I try to install Win2k, I get a blue screen (immediately after the part where I "add the drivers for my raid controller&quot😉....

Very sad. I am hopeful that the next bios fix may resolve this. Have you had this problem? If yes, how did you solve this one??? The rest of my config is pretty standard (GeForce 2 GTS, 256 megs Crucial CAS2, X-Gamer 5.1).

Well, what do you think about this one?

Thanks,

BraziliaBoy ;-)

Move the hard disk to the other controller (non-promise) and install w2k.

When you get w2k up and running install the promise drivers. Then switch your hdd back to the promise controller. It will run just fine, I know because I using it now.

You need to put the promise drivers on a floppy, then during Win2K setup press F5 when it says "Press F5 to install SCSI/RAID drivers." otherwise it cant recognize the HD correctly.

I thought that was F6 that you hit, could be wrong just checking because I'm getting ready to dual boot the same way.

Hi,

Does your A7V133 come with a onboard Promose UltraDMA100 RAID? I wanna buy one, but how do I know I will get 4 IDE ports on the MB. Looks like the RAID ports are optional. Thanks.

Download the latest Promise drivers and put them on a floppy (make sure txtsetup.oem is on the disk). As soon as win2k install starts, hit f6. Hit S to select the drivers, then hit Enter. Should continue with the install and you won't have to install any promise drivers once you're in windows.
