ok..sorry about all the confusion..i think i even confused myself..I will give you my specs in a sec but the hardware mpeg decoder was an option that i purchased with my pc for better DVD performance..Its crap i know..
here we go..
P4 1800
Intel DBG850 Mobo
Promise ultra100 ide controller
nvidia gf3 nfinite fx
hardware mpeg-2 decoder
intel pro/100 desktop adapter
the pci card that i said was connected internally to my gf3 is an Ultra100Tx2 (ide controller).. what do i do with this?
Yank the GF3, yank the mpeg2 decoder, and find out why your IDE controller is connected to your GF3. There's no reason for it to be at all.
The Radeon cards have a hardware mpeg decoder onboard, so you can retire your PCI card or throw it in a 2nd rig. Plug in your AIW in your AGP slot, connect the power supply, plug in your VGA cable and tv source.
Before you do any of this, go to hardware manager and remove your GF3 from devices. Then select standard VGA. There are some issues with going from nvidia to Ati cards, so you may need a fresh install, but try this method first.
