Installing Sandy Cpu

I got my MB and CPU yesterday. I will get my case today. So I went ahead and put the cpu and heatsink on already to save time. Man that latch to close the lid over the cpu felt like I was going to break the cpu in half, and it made a nice grinding noise. I really hope nothing got messed up..

If your worried take it out and look at the pads

It scared me a bit too, so I removed it and looked at the pads. They where ok. As long as you put it in there flat and the keys to the notches correctly, it wont happen anything to the CPU. It is the retention mechanism springs I think that makes that squeaking noise. But I agree, it sounds like you are crushing something.

Ya i noticed the same thing, almost felt like those pins were being crushed, but all was good after checking them.
