I have been searching the net high and dry (well at least at reputable sites) for a way to get this game to install in XP and I just can't get it going.

I get the same error over and over when I try and run the setup. It says:

\LOCALS~1\Temp\5832_appcompat.txt

Awesome. It means nothing.

Any help would be great. I have disabled hardware acceleration on the sound card, I have tried every compatibility mode and whatnot. No luck.

I can only offer one piece of advice.
Go to Target or Walmart and get the collectors "C&C: The First Decade" game pack.
But I'm not sure if that includes Red Alert 2.

I've even installed the first C&C game, regular old C&C, all the way through C&C Generals on XP
I only had one problem, which was a driver issue, but SP2 cleared that up (amazing SP2 doing something right...

I've installed RA2 (the original) and Yuri's Revenge on XP SP2 with no problems. Maybe it's your CD? Sorry, I can't help you further.

Is it suppose to be that easy?
I did remember trying to install RA2 a year or two ago on XP SP2, and it far from easy.
