Installing RAID 1 on a8n32

In a few weeks I?ll be attempting my first ever build. I plan on getting the Asus A8N32 and installing at 74GB WD Raptor (for the OS=XP Media Center, and applications) and also setting up a ~250 GB RAID 1. I?ve gone through the Asus manual and I have some questions about installing a RAID:

1. After installing all the hard drives and other hardware, after I POST and enter the BIOS, am I correct in that it should have detected the hard drives?

2. Which RAID controller/driver do you recommend that I use, NVIDIA or Silicon Image?

I?m fairly comfortable when it comes to installing the actual components and cables. I?m more nervous when it comes to setting the BIOS and making sure that I install the OS and drivers correctly. Are there any suggestions/hints that I should be aware of for this part of the installation?

Thanks in advance!

There have been alot of questions about Raid and Raid setups on this board. When you get the board, there is a raid instruction manual on the resource CD on how to set up the Nvidea raid. The only glitch in the instructions is how you get to the raid setup in the bios. You actually acces it via the IDE configuration submenu. I just followed the directions and it worked fine. I did have a laptop available so I had the CD running right next to me and followed the directions step by step
