Installing Radeon 9800 pro without disk

I lost the orginal installation disk that came with the card. What is the best way to install without the cd? Can I just install the lastest display driver from the official download site?
 
Yeah I know the site.

Just wondering if I had to install from CD first. If there is any performance difference or if any important files would be missing not installing from the cd first.

Of course not. Why would they have downloadable drivers if you couldn't use them?

Actually, you should almost never use the drivers on the CD, especially for cards that came out more than a few months ago. They're horribly outdated and may not work as well with newer games.
