Installing programs on Windows 8 different than 7?

I'm installing a few programs that I've got backed up onto a USB drive onto a friends windows 8.1 laptop. Is it any different than 7?

Not in my 8.1 system. The procedure is the same. You have choices. Control Panel; StartMenu/Run; Rxplorer - find app's .EXE or SETUP file.
