:disgust: I am trying to install a retail version WD drive (74Gb SATA Raptor) as the C: drive in an new system I am building. I have an older XP Professional OS (legal, never used) that I am trying to install. Mobo is new ASUS SLI Deluxe, CPU is AMD 64 3200 (939 pin). Please tell me where I went wrong. I have already tried the following:
1. Setting up HD with WD Lifeline setup app. Did not add any drivers with F6 - not interested in a RAID setup. Used XP CD to start install. Windows install starts, loads some drives, moves to license agreement screen and dies - F8 to accept does not work, I can only hit escape to cancel the installation.
2. Used WD Diagnostics to load 0s on drive to blank it out assuming that Lifeline is not needed on an XP install. Repeated attempt to install with XP CD with the same result.
I am stuck. What am I missing? Would the fact this may be a pre SP1 version of XP be a problem I need to work around?
