Installing older hardware/software on windows xp pro

I have a 3com HomeConnect web cam that I used to use on my windows 98 system. I decided to install it on my winxp pro system , and when I install the software and drivers for the camera, a warning message pops up stating that it may not be compatable with windows xp, and could cause problems.

I have asked a few people about these windows warning messages that come up when installing older hardware and drivers, and some say to go ahead and install it. Any thoughts? Thanks.
