Installing Norton SystemWorks in Dual Boot Setup

I have a dual boot setup of Win98SE in two partitions, one for Internet and games and the other for music production. The partitions are setup such that both are visible but only one of them is active at a time. I'd like to be able to use WinDoctor and Optimization Wizard (from Norton Systemworks Pro 2002) to fix Windows problems and optimize the registry in both partitions. Do I need to install the program in both partitions and run it individually on each, or is there a way to install on only one partition and run it
from that partition to fix/optimize the registry of both partitions? In other words, can a single run from one partition fix/optimize both partitions?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can install the files in the same drive and folder for both installs but you need to install to both OS's so the system files get installed into both windows installations. I have done this in the past with no problems. The only problem I can forsee is if you ever want to uninstall the program.

Thanks for the reply.

That would mean then that my registry in both partitions would have the same set of Norton-related entries. What I really wanted was to avoid bloating the registry of the music production partition since it is very mission critical. So it would have been nice if I could have just one installation of Norton in the other partition for Internet and games and no Norton in the music production partition. But it seems from your reply that the utilities mentioned cannot process two registries in one run and can only process the registry of the partition in which they are installed, hence the need for separate installations.

I only need WinDoctor, Optimization Wizard and CleanSweep in the music production partition because--correct me if I'm wrong--I suppose Anti-Virus, Disk Doctor, Speed Disk, Ghost and the others that I use can work from a single partition installation to process any partition. Therefore, to minimize bloating of my music production registry, here's what I plan to do: I will just install those three (WinDoctor, Optimization Wizard and CleanSweep) in the music production partition, and not need to allocate a shared partition for common application program files. Then I will install the complete set of utilities in the other partition. What do you think?

Thanks again!

You can install whatever you want into each partition. I thought you were wanting to save hard drive space and make the install to the same folder on the same drive for both os's.

You could do a full installation on the one partition and select the few componets you want into the music partition. As far as I know you will need it installed on the partition you want to use it on. In other words you can't scan the registry in the music partition when you are using the other. I am not 100% sure of this however. ;)

I hope this is a little more help.

We don't support such a configuration. You will need to install the product to use it in each os.
