Installing Norton Antivirus 2005.

i sometimes prefer going with a full unisntall of the old version, rebooting the system, then installing the new version. sometimes when upgrading old files that won't be used are sometimes still kept, thus wasting space on your hard drive. if you are concerned about hard drive space then uninstall, but if not just upgrade.

I would say be safe and remove the 2003 version then reboot and install the 2005. Norton softwera sometimes is very picky about installs over previous versions.

I'd stay far far away from Norton Spamtivirus.

Too many system resources used when you can use the light AntiVir or AVG for free 🙂

I would uninstall NAV2003 first. Reboot, and install 2005.
I performed this upgrade a while back for a client and Nav just shat itself completely.
It should have been smooth sailing but of course it wasnt.
I dont use nor recommend Symantec programs anymore.
Good Luck.

Well unfortunately Norton Antivirus is the software sanctionned by the company I work for (the Dell laptop is used on the company network) so I don't have a choice.

I donnot and will not use it anywhere else.

I installed Norton Antivirus 2005 over top of Norton Antivirus 2003 and everything went smooth, no hiccups whatsoever.

Thanks everyone.

Marc
