Installing new Vid and sound drivers on an XP reinstall

OS is up and running again on "stock drivers"...

Q: I plan to install updated Via first, and then DX...

Next will be the video drivers... Win XP already has some rudimentary ones there... Do I need to wipe these clean prior to installing the first "real" driver set? I'll be installing Nvidia drivers so I assumed I'd need the Detonator Destroyer to wipe out the built in XP/Nvidia driver... Yes/No?

Q: Same concept with audio? But I'm guessing not... Just install the Audigy drivers over the top of whats already there?

Q: Finally what about NIC drivers? I've got a netgear FA311. Can I just install these over the top of whats already in XP?

Overalll, I was surprised that I was never prompted to choose my driver set if I wanted...???

I would run driver cleaner in safe mode to remove any video drivers. Remove the audio drivers installed, I am not sure if you had onboard audio, if so make sure you disable it in the BIOS. Then install the Audigy drivers and the latest Video drivers for you card.
