I'm going from an Asus P2B 440BX chipset mobo (p3) to an epox 8kta3 w/tbird this week, and I am not sure weither I'll have to format my secondary HD as well as my "main" one..

no1 HD = Win98, I boot off it

no2 HD = backup, I got win2k on it but I only boot off it if no1 is unable to boot..but i still use the files on it all the time, I just don't load the OS on it.

my question is will I have to format no2 when I install the new mobo?
Formatting no1 is pretty much a given..or so I've heard.

anyone with info on this situation?

much appreciated

I might be wrong, but if ya have an OS on HD2, ya need to do it.

When I put my MSI Pro 2 in, I had all my stuff on one 8.3 Maxtor, along with all the install cabs for Winn 98 SE (just in case)
I deleted the ENUM key in the registry (under current config)and put her in. After setting up the bios, along with Award setting the HD, it booted right into Windows, and loaded it all up. Yes, I had to reboot back to safe mode, and make sure that it had not loaded double drivers (which it had)..and I had to load the new motherboard components ...but all turned out well.
In my case, it ws worth it ...as I did not have proper backup, and I really did not want to reload it all.
