Hey Guys,
I am currently running windows 2000 on a 60 gig maxtor HD. I just bought another 40 gig HD and when I plug it in, windows 2000 will let me log in but right after the log in screen, it gives me the a blue screen error (something about a page file). When I unplug the 40 gig HD, Windows 2000 loads fine. Can anyone tell me what's wrong?

What kind of HD? Have you tried it in another system?

Also, if you set Win2k not to reboot when a BSOD occurs, what's the exact error?

It's a Maxtor 40 gig 5400 rpm ata 100 hard drive. I haven't tried it in another system yet, I just got it today and I used Fdisk to create a partition and everything went okay, then I formated the new HD. My 60 gig hard drive is a maxtor 7200 ata 100. How do you set win2k not to reboot at a BSOD?

<< How do you set win2k not to reboot at a BSOD? >>

Control Panel > System > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Under 'System Failure', uncheck automatically reboot.

With the secondary HD installed, can you load Windows succcessfully in safe mode?

This might be a driver issue, but I'm not certain yet. The knowledge base doesn't come up with anything useful so far.

Okay, I found the problem. When I plug the IDE cable into my motherboard instead of the Promise ATA controller card, everything loads fine. It might be a driver problem with the card.

Are you using the latest drivers for the Promise card? Also, what kind of storage devices did you've plugged on to this card before you decided to add the second HD?

I had the 60 gig and 40 gig hard drives on one IDE cable plugged into IDE PORT 1 on my ata card, I think that I'll try putting them on seperate ports. Thanks for your help.
