Installing mobo in case

It's been about 4 years since the last time I built a system, so I've forgotten most of it. From what I recall, the motherboards I've installed had a little spring steel tab around the keyboard/mouse ports that pressed on the I/O shield.

I think I installed the screw on the back edge, opposite the I/O ports first, and then the one on that same end of the board on the front edge. After that I installed the rest on the front, the one by the keyboard port, and then the back ones. That spring tab seemed to require quite a bit of force be applied to the mobo to push it toward the back of the case to get the holes to line up with the standoffs.

I'm wondering if it's this way for everyone or is there a trick to it that I don't know?

Thanks,
BGC

I always went outide in to help get the motherboard stable but if the screws can be screwed in then it can be considered the right way.

My Antec SLK3000B has a nice feature. The centre standoff isn't a standoff at all, but a little nub that the hole sits over. The case basically holds the mobo in position while you drive the mounting screws home.

No, something I was curious about. Luckily, I don't allow fear of comments like this to keep me from asking any questions I might have. There are plenty of people in the forum that actually answer the questions instead of looking for opportunities to make smartass comments. I'm sure you can find some non-conforming posts in the Hot Deals forum to comment on if you hurry.

looking into the case, with the ps on the left: i usually go top left, bottom right, top right, bottom left, then randomly put in the middle ones.

I do the corners first and do it in diagonally opposite pattern (like wheel nuts). Then fill in all the rest.

I cant say. I have a case like Fresh's, but a older Lanboy. Do corners diagonally, then the rest randomly:D
