I want to upgrade the memory in my "486" and the users manual for simm configuration show how to install 1,4 or 16 meg simms but it does not mention tne "8 meg" simm. I see some "8 meg" simms in the forum and am wondering if i can use "8 meg simms" since they aren't mentioned. Thnx.
 
If your system doesn't support them there are two possibilities. Either A)Your system won't boot with the 8mb SIMM in it, or B)You won't get use of the full 8mb (you'll get 4mb if you're lucky).
 
I think you should be able to use 8 meg. I am not sure though but if it supports the 16 then why it doesn't work for the 8. I maybe wrong on this one but that's just my opinion.
