ok, I have windows xp pro, and I want to be able to type in the asian languages. I went to microsoft to download the IME, but when I try to install it, it says that it doesn't work w/ the version of windows that I am using....

any ideas?

I already went through windows update and it is already updated, but it still doesn't work...

note: this is not for office xp, just for regular typing in windows xp pro.

worked for mine....you are probably downloading the wrong version or their link is linked to the wrong version.

ctrl panel --> Regional and Language Options

languages tab, check the box for install files for east asian languages. hit apply, let it install

then click on details in the language tab and install whatever language you may want.

hope that works, instead of me repeating what you went through

what Jombo said, also, this is very useful:

Applocale
is a nice program you can use to set a specific language for a certain program.[/quote]

the problem is that they ask you for the xp CD when you go that route.
I had windows xp installed by the computer center at my school, and when I went back to see if I can borrow the CD for 5 minutes, the said no...and assured me that I can download it online......

grrrr.....

I love the posts that leave out important info....

What school 'allows' you to download XP?

You will need to download the whole CD i386 directory to your HD and then point the installer to Drive:/path/i386
