Hi,
I'm currently trying to install KDE3 on my XP box (running SFU 3.0) and have some problems installing QT. It requires me to set a few variables to directories, the problem is that it won't remember after restart and only accept lower cap variable names, but I need things like PATH or QTDIR. How do I tell him to remember them?

I might be wrong, but I don't think you can run KDE on XP, even using SFU.

if you set environment variables manually (right click My Computer --> Properties --> Advanced --> Env Vars), they'll stay there even after you reboot. Or on XP I think you can also use the msconfig utility as well.

at least the enviroment variable problem I could solve. The env vars thing doesn't work completely work... there are variables which get resetted every time you start a shell... but there is a config file where you can set them. But then the next problem... QT doesn't know the platform and I can't get it to run. And without QT...
Anyway, afaik there is a sort of pack where you have a few window managers IIRC. Is it only a KDE specific problem? If yes, do you know other window managers which work on XP + SFU?
