Hello, I am completely newbie as for intalling any hardware in my computer.... i have never intalled HDD myself but I want to add additional hard drive. Do I get all the neccesary cables(like power cable / ribbon cable)? or are they already there in my computer? or do i have to buy them separately? my computer is dell 4600 series. just opened up my computer. I think there is data cable(ribbon cable) but i couln;t find any power cable... read the manual but it just says 'connect power and data cable'. noothing about where to connect and how to connect... thanks in advance for all your help...

You've got the power cable in there somewhere. Move the wires around a little. Be careful you don't knock anything loose, though. I've got a 4600, but can't remember if the extra power cables have a plastic cap on them. Look for a plastic cap if you don't see the four hole plug.

thanks a lot. so power cable is there.... great... hehe... how about the data cable (ribbon cable)? is it also supposed to be there ?? thanks

You should have everything you need for a second hard drive already in the PC. The power connector is white with a black rubber cap on it and is labeled P5. The data cable has a grey connector that will plug into the second drive. Make sure the new second drive is set to cable select (CS) with the jumper(s).

oh.... thanks a lot. yeah... I found P5 connector... thought that it was for data. 🙂 now i have to go back and look for grey connector... thanks a lot.
