installing dx8a before or after video driver?

I am reformatting should I put directX8a after I install the display driver or before?

I saw that the latest ATi Radeon/RAGE 128 drivers require DX8, so maybe DX8 has to be on before, in some cases.

Only thing that happened to me was that diablo Ii would not run correctly after installing DX8. I had to uninstall the game and reinstall. so if you are going to install it i would do so before intsalling any software.
