Installing DirectX 8

Can you install over Directx 7.0a. Some people I've talked with recommend going back to a standard VGA driver, Removing
the soundcard, then installing Directx8.

Any suggestions...
 
Whoa, you can simply download DirectX 8 and install it. You need not change your drivers (unless they have issues with DX8, Which is extremly rare).
