The FLASH utility can only work well when there are no memory drivers or other TSR's installed. It is recommended to start up your system from a floppy disk which only has the system (for example COMMAND.COM) on it or (under windows 95, DOS 6.22, etc.) press F4/5 to bypass the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS startup files.
