Installing Asus via drivers Yes/No?

Had system crash, think it was CPU now. Anyway, got a A7V400 MX. In finally getting the system to reboot and run decently, the system wants to install the IDE driver atomatically. The XP wants to set a restore point 1st. I checked OK, and the system started backing up a RP. Let it go 24 hours and it wasn't yet finished.

Should I do an install or try to uninstall the present IDE drivers?

Manually reset the machine, then download and install the latest Via 4-in-1's

Via has an ide accelerator that also 'fixes' the Norton Ghost 9.0 systray error for me!
