Installing Apple printer on my PC with XP

Hey guys, I'm sorta a noob when it comes to computer hardware so bare with me 🙂

I got an Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS printer for free from work. They didn't have the CD or anything like that, so I'm trying to figure out how to install this onto my PC.

I did a search on google but couldn't find much. Tried several search queries but to no avail.

Is it even possible to get this working with Windows XP?

If it matters, I have Service Pack 2 installed and the printer is connected directly to my LPT1 port.

Oh yeah, when I plugged in the printer on the LPT1 port, it didn't do anything. I went to Device Manager and under "Ports (COM & LPT)" I see "ECS Printer Port (LPT1)". It is showing that the device is working properly.

Apple's spec page for the printer says it has a standard parallel (Centronics) printer port so it should work. If it helps, here's Apple's link for the manual for the LaserWriter 16/600 PS.

XP has buit in drivers for that printer. If it does not auto detect, try adding it manually.
