shouldn't be a problem...........
you will probably need to do 1 or 2 things though,
#1 in the bios, you need to make sure that SATA support is enabled (probably already is by default)
#2 in bios, You may need to check the boot device options, and make sure you have the HDD you want to boot from selected in the boot sequence.
I think you can probably just plug it in and see what happens, if it doens't work, you will need to trouble shoot keeping the above #1 and #2 in mind
also, if you have win xp you will have to enable the drive in windows drive manager for windows to be able to see it
that shoudl get you going in the right direction...........erm.............sort of
