Installing an AGP x8 card on a x4 slot

I had my eyes set on the 6600GT AGP card for a while now, my pc is kinda decent (P4 3.06GHz, 512MB RAM ?) so getting my hands on that card will boost up my gaming performance but now I see that the card is AGP x8 and there's nothing mentioned about AGP x4 support and since there is a x4 AGP only slot on my mainboard and I'm gonna spend a great deal of money on it I just wanted to be sure that the card will run on my pc

8x AGP gear (mainboards and cards!) must, by order of the AGP specification, be backward compatible to 4x mates.

It's also possible to insert a 4x AGP card into an 8x AGP slot, just as long as the voltages match. It was certainly fortunate that my nVidia TNT2 M64 is 1.5V, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to work with my new PC for months. I haven't ordered a new graphics card yet. ;\
