Installing a specific kernel.

Hi everyone, I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 on the default/stock kernel right now, and I've heard that a newer kernel (2.6.37) runs a lot better than the default one. I do not want to upgrade to 2.6.38/39 because I made that mistake last time and my ATi drivers weren't working and I've heard of power regression/consumption issues overall with those kernels. Does anyone have a specific guide to help me with this? I honestly have no idea. Everytime I try to install a Liquorix kernel, for example, it never allows me to download something that was "before" the newest one (2.6.38).
