Installing a single HDD on the SI 3114 controller of a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe

I have been trying to install a single 300 GB Seagate hard drive using the Silicon image 3114 SATA controller on my motherboard. The SI 3114 raid bios sees the drive. Am I supposed to set it up as a JBOD? Or, is is supposed to just detect the drive and work without setting anything up in the raid BIOS? It works fine on the NVidia raid controller.
