Installing a SECOND Hard Drive, please help

Hi, I just got a new Maxtor 40GB Hard Drive and its setup with Windows XP and running fine. I also want to install my old hard drive as a storage drive, it is also 40gb and has alot of data on it already. I've never done this before so how do I go about it?

I know that I should plug the IDE cable in that says "HD2" and also set the 2nd drive to slave setting right? I believe there are 4 different positions to put the jumper in, so which one should I put it on to make it slave?

After that's done, what needs to be setup as far as software? What should be done in the BIOS? After the BIOS, is there anything I need to do with Windows XP or will it set up the drive automatically?

Much Thanks.

yes, plug the correct end of the ide cable into your secondary drive. Also, to set the jumper just refer to the manual if you still have it, otherwise if you're lucky your jumpers on the old hard driver are marked. As long as the old hard drive is using a file format recognizable by your OS (FAT, FAT32, NTFS if your OS is Windows) your OS should be able to read it. As far as BIOS, just set all the drives to AUTO, or at least the primary slave and primary master.
