Hey, I'm going to buy a new video card and a new motherboard, but I'm not really sure how to uninstall my existing video card and motherboard on my current hard drive to install the new ones. Current OS is Windows XP, this is the first time I am doing this so any help will do, thanks.

based on the question here, I suggest that you do not touch your pc and instead find a pc shop.

If the chipset on your motherboard is different from your current chipset, you will probably need to reinstall Windows XP. You *may* be able to get it to work with a lot of research and effort, but there is a good chance that Windows XP will just bluescreen upon boot.

I'd recommend a clean install of Windows.

also, if it is a newer motherboard you are moving too, I would recommend an upgrade to windows 7, and a new HDD of course.

I've done this a few times, but I echo the other posters' cautions about your level of experience. If you want to try it, then I recommend: restart the machine in safe mode; uninstall all peripheral device drivers from control panel; shut down the machine; install your new parts; start machine and let Windows do its thing.

This process has always worked well for me, and the last time I did it was with XP. However there is certainly the potential to get into trouble you might not be able to recover from.

you can just swap everything over, when i was doing bitcoin and swapped motherboards and added another video card all i did was uninstall the vid drivers.xp found all new devices and everything went well.the only thing i had to install were the audio and video drivers and i think i had to re register windows
