I too have built my own computer but this is the first time I have swapped out an old PSU with a more modern power supply.
I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe, AMD 4000 64 bit CPU, two SATA HDDs, and an ASUS EAX800XL GPU that does not require a power source other than the motherboard.
I had an ANTEC TruePower 380 PSU that came with the Antec Sonata 1 case that I bought what seems like a long time ago.
I bought an OCZ GAMEXSTREAM 700 WATT PSU which came with no installation instructions.
I pushed the softpower on button and nothing.
The old Antec TruePower 380 came with a 20 pin Main plug and a separate 4 pin power plug which plugged in a far distance (upper left corner) from the Main (upper right). Since the motherboard had a 24 pin connection, I had bought an adapter.
The new OCZ GameXStream 700 has a 20 pin and a 4 pin power plug attached, which I can plug in together, one above the other, in to the 24 pin Main power connection. What gets plugged into the ATX 12V power connection in the upper left?
There are two 4 pin plugs with the OCZ PSU marked CPU1 and CPU2. I have a single CPU, but I don't know where to plug eitther of these in. Does the CPU1 get plugged in to the ATX 12V power connection in the upper left?
With the Antec TruePower 380 the front activity lights plugged in to the same power line as the two SATA drives. With the OCZ GameXStream, I don't know where to plug either in.
Anyone who has the OCZ GameXStream and/or can tell me what I need to know, I would appreciate your help.
