Installing a new Maxtor 120gb HD... HELP?

Current system:
Abit NF7-S v2.0 (Latest Bios)
AMD 2500+ @ 200x11 (1.725 vcore)
1x512mb Mushkin PC3500 Level 2
Radeon 9100 128mb (200/250)
WD 40gb (main)
Fujitsu 5gb (backup files)

I'm putting the 40gb in my old system, and I'm gonna just lose the 5gb all together... Should I use the IDE-to-SATA cable that came with the NF7-S? Or should I stick with IDE?

Also... the 5gb has some files I'd like to backup to the new 120gb before I get rid of it... If I used the SATA connector, how would I make it the primary boot disk? Is it HDD-0 in the bios? Never used SATA before...

Please help

Keep the 40 gig hd in, Set it as slave from the jumper on the back of the HD and set the maxtor as Master, Then turn on comp install windows or whatever you have to do. Go to my computer, Copy paste your back up files to the maxtor. Turn off, Take out WD, Set it back as master assuming its going to be the primary for the old computer and then your all set. SATA is no different then IDE other then being much smaller. I dont have experiance with it either but it should work.
