For someone who's never modded a computer before, but looking to start OC'ing a new system, how difficult is it to remove the stock (Intel) HSU and fan and install a new one? Something a chimp can do? Also if anyone knows of any good guides (I checked the stickied thread already but didnt find much) I would be appreciative.

Thanks :)

What type of Intel, Socket 370 or Socket 478? If it happens to be S370 then you can refer to the guide in my signature. Socket478 is typically held down with two cam-action latches but you need to be careful not to damage the CPU when removing the heatsink, since the adhesion between the CPU and the heatsink may be quite strong. Wouldn't want to twist the heatspreader off the CPU or something. :p

Never knew that.

Installing a new one can be easy depending on the type/brand HSF you get.

The kind that require you to take your mobo out and install bolts into the back of it are the biggest pain.
The Zalman in my sig is particularly easy to install not to mention very quiet, efficient and rather beautiful.
Zalman has a nice instructional video on that page.

You also need to know about applying thermal compound.
