Before you say it's easy, let me clarify exactly what I'm doing.

I have a Toshiba Libretto 70 (when closed, it's slightly larger than a VHS tape). I have an old 12GB hard drive that I want to install in it. The Libretto has no floppy, and no CD-ROM, it will only boot from a PCMCIA floppy or the HD.

Now, I have a Dell Latitude C810 that I could temporarily install the HD into, format, etc. - HOWEVER -

The Toshiba bios does not recognize a HD larger than 8GB. For this I need the Disk Wizard Software in order to recognize the remainder of the drive. (Hitachi version, as it works with Hitachi/IBM drives, of which I am using one). Not a problem, as I have this software (it 's a free download, although it's not easy to locate).

Next problem: is that the Toshiba has a built in hibernation (built prior to Microsoft's hibernation feature) where it creates a special partition at the end of the drive, but it needs to be formatted in the Libretto for it to happen. (Not doing this is possible, but creates some other problems that I'd rather avoid). Unfortunately, on a hard drive larger than 8GB, it seems to create this partition at the 8GB mark.

Oh yeah, it's a P120 with 16MB RAM, I plan to use it only as an 802.11b connection to the net for primarily internet and email, and to work off my esmith server box on my home network.

Now, how do I go about this?

Here's what I think I need to do: (but I'm looking for input to save me time and headache)

Format the HD in the Dell (just a small partition, say 1GB, for now) - install DOS and the Hitachi Disk Wizard software (which uses DR-DOS). Then put the drive in in the Libretto and run the Disk Wizard Software (although I'm not sure if this will allow the hibernation parition to be created). Then I will need to install the DOS drivers for my wired network card, then I can install Linux across the network, then I can go wireless.

Any fedback would be helpful. (And yes, I looked for PCMCIA floppies, but the prices are a bit high for only using it a couple of times and then storing it away forever).

Thanks.

Where are all the gurus? Did I scare everyone away? C'mon. Most of you guys are smarter than me when it comes to computers! :)
