A friend has used up all 40GB of his Fujitsu hard drive in his HP system and he's getting another. I recommended he get the 120GB Maxtor with 8MB Cache from Best Buy (about $60 after rebates *thank god for the hot deals section*) anyways, I'm going to be putting it in for him. Now I have build my computer but I'm still not totally sure on how to upgrade a hard drive. He's going to keep his existing one to boot off XP and have stuff stored on but he really needs a new hard drive. Anyways, how do I go about putting this in? I know how to physically put the hard drive in but I'm not too good with the software part. First, what would I set the jumper to? I believe Slave. Second, he has Windows XP on the hard drive so when I turn the computer on, would Windows bring up a formatting option for me to format it to FAT32 (the existing hard drive is)? Should I install the MaxBlast software? I only want one partition on it. Thanks!
