Installing a Heatsink

I'm installing a heatsink on a 1ghz tbird soon. Its an Alpha PAL6035. I got some artic silver and a cpu/fx copper shim. How should I go about installing it. The copper shim seems to allow good contact on the chip, how should I check to make sure? I don't want to crack my processor. Thanks.

Add small amount of AC to processor (the lil hump) scrap it off with razor blade take what is left on blade and put it on Alpha spread it out with razor and check to see it is making good contact with processor when you pull it apart... I read a post when user add small amount to corners of shim, I tried it and makes big mess of processor.

Oh with my Global Win read about people have problems installing them he is how I do it.. Get a big ass screw driver like at least 10 inches long I leave the moard insalled use the big screw drive to push on spring not clamp (alphas are different) and use hand to attach clamp .. You will have to push on clamp I think but I would use big screw drive not a small one..
