All that geographic data and map textures, I assume.

I got my copy of FSX Gold at GameStop, and the guy working the register asked me if I was sure my system could handle the game, have I looked at the system requirements, flipping the box over and pointing out the system reqs to me, etc.

Oh okay. Did some googling, seems Phantasmagoria 1 runs fine on XP. Phantasmagoria 2 has some problems running on XP though.
