Installing a bunch of new hardware in xp ... how to

I was wondering if anyone has tried installing a bunch of new hardware .. in my case the motherboard, proc, ram and video card.. in xp by using the system recovery method instead of a fresh install and how well that worked. Right now I am not feeling like doing a full reinstall of the os.

 
[*]Boot to the XP CDROM and choose repair
[*]select the windows install
[*]chkdsk /r
[*]works like a champ for motherboard swaps
